Marion-
Your Betta sounds beautiful (look out, Leah!) .
And that is how I got into the piggies! I saw a bit on tv about how you could
combine a betta with a plant in a large vase of water, and I was hooked! At
that time I was still depressed over moving into an apartment (yuck!) where I
couldn't have any pets, unless they were contained like fish or a bird, etc.
Well, I soon discovered the fish would be happier without the plant, and in
a larger aquarium. That,of course, led to more and larger aquariums so I
could have other fish. I worried that they would become bored without all
the activity they were used to at the store, so I would leave the tv on for
them. My son began to worry about me, so HE found me a guinea pig,
after I enjoyed the blockbuster video commercials with the gp in them,
telling him about the piggie I'd had as a child. Snowy seemed lonely,
even with tv and the fish, so the very next month, he surprised me with
a friend for her (and a larger cage), and the rest, as they say . . .
So watch out for those bettas! They really are interesting, tho - I have one
in a tank next to the computer (Dennis the Red Menace), and he always
watches me, pretty much ignoring the few neons and two turtles flitting
about. Besides, the piggies always enjoy a trip to the Aquarium to watch
the fishies (like taking a kid to the zoo!). LW was really impressed last
wheek when he got to go with me to PetSmart, and see the Birds and
Fishies.
Leah- you could put a Piggie Walk up to your Betta Tank so Brownie Bear
and Butterscotch could go up to see the fish whenever they pleased (with
a pigrail for safety, of course!). hehehe
Susi and the Okie Piggies
(now they have added a trip to the Gerblings as a field trip)
