Hello all :)

Long time reader, harldy ever poster, but first things first, loving wheeks
from the "Family" - Dilwyn and Weobly the boys, and PIggy, Clover, Daisy,
Trixie, Molly and Emily, the girls. Especially to all of those who have
recently, (or not so), lost a piggy.

Clover is having a very busy wheek the poor girl. Last Monday whe had a
rush trip to the vets, when we noticed she wasn't eating her night time
romaine. He couldn't find out what was wrong, but thankfully gave her a
dose of metacam, as well as baytril. I did some research the next day, and
thanks to the wonderful Peter Guerny, was able to diagnse Clover with bloat
and start her on the Rennies! Back to the vets, saw the g pig specialist
this time, who gave her a 4 day course of metoclopramide to reduce the
bloating, plus rimadyl for the pain. He said he usually gets better results
with the rimadyl rather than the metacam. So whee have had a wheek of piggy
massage, critical care, very regular feeding, and rennie deflacane (which
contains simethicone). Clover is much improved and gaining weight, despite
having managed to get water on her lungs at 9 o'clock Thursday night.
Another trip to the vets, 2 more injections one duiretic, one another pain
killer, which helps reduce inflamation. Worked within the hour, and
amazingly Clover munched hay through the whole experience!

Still not quite there with the bloat though. I cant feel anything inside,
and its worse in the morning when she hasn't been running around. I think
breakfast (usually greens, brocoli, cucumber and celery) makes it worse, so
this am she just had cucumber and celery. Obviously they have hay available
round the clock, a dried frood mix first thing (fruit and fibre, contains
pre biotics and vit c), plus carrots, tomatoes, and romaine in the evening.
We tried them on sweetcorn first thing - they were not that interested.
We've got peppers to try them on next. Would anyone have any specific
suggestions for diet? Most of the other pigs seem fine, although now I'm
worried I can ever so slightly "drum" a couple of the larger pigs too.
Although as their weight is stable, and they're eating, like um pigs, I
think they're fine and I'm worrying too much.

Thanks very very muchly in advance, particularly as I never, ever post!

Hugs and wheeks to all,

Rachel and the Herd
