I don't have any rescue stories, but I do know that my little piggies bring
great joy to my life. I've always wanted children and since I got married
late, I was unable to have any. My husband has a lot of hobbies and I do
not. I didn't know what to do with myself once I got home from work. I
wanted a pet to keep me company and initially I wanted to have a dog, but my
husband told me that it was too much trying to walk him every day and that
he/she would need a lot of attention. Then a friend of mine, who was
pregnant with her 4th child and had 3 guinea pigs, 2 cats and 1 large dog
and asked me if I would take her guinea pigs. She knew that I wanted a pet
and she said that I would be a great guardian because I have such a big
heart. I was reluctant to take the piglets at first because I knew nothing
about caring for them. Well, before I got these little guys I purchased
some books at Barnes & Noble and I went on the internet for research. When
I finally picked up these little guys, I was amazed on how cute they were,
but I was afraid of not caring for them properly. I guess it's like having
a newborn child. I must admit, in the first couple of weeks, it was a lot
of work and there were times when I asked myself "Why did I get myself
into". But, as time went on, I got faster at cleaning the pen, feeding them
and now it's a snap. After several weeks, I reread all my guinea pig books
and everything fell into place. I understood. Now, when I come home from
work, I check on my little guys first, then I talk to my husband. LOL!!

I guess they've rescued me. I love these little guys so much. I put them
on my lap and brush them. I carry them around the house and give them
little kisses. I check on them constantly like a children in a crib. I
finally have my babies!!
