This poem is dedicated to Daisy, Annie and Tacoma who passed over the
Rainbow Bridge in 2004. I had the honor of holding each of them in my arms
as they made their trip. They will wait for me with Tribbles, Taffy and
Oreo until it is my turn to join them.

It is also dedicated to all your beloved pets waiting over the Bridge for
you.

As the author is unknown, I took the liberty to change a few words for
guinea pigs. This was originally written for a dog or cat.

If It Should Be

If it should be that I grow weak, and pain should keep me from my sleep.
Then you must do what must be done, for this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand. Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest, your love for me must stand the test.

We had so many happy years, what is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so, the time has come to let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend, and please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see.

As my bright eyes begin to fade, my path to the bridge it has been paved.
I know in time that you will see, the kindness that you did for me.

Do not be sad it must be you, who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close we two these years, don't let your heart hold back it's
tears.

The Rainbow Bridge is straight ahead, so beautiful it holds no dread.
I'll wait for you to come for me, and together we will always be.

Sorry to make you all feel sad.

Dee
