Lucky's slave,

I laughed out loud when I read your email about your husband eating the 'leftovers'! I, too, have had to explore the recipe book for ways to use kale. Neither guinea pig nor humans ended up liking it much! What do you do with a bunch of beets when all you really want is the greens and maybe one small piece off one beet? Swiss chard is next on my list to try. Wouldn't you know that Bud hates asparagus, the one thing I'd HAPPILY eat.
Bud agrees that not all romaine or parsley is created equal. However he is most picky about cilantro. For every three bunches I buy that he will not eat, there will be one bunch he loves. I am almost ready to quit buying it all together when all of a sudden he can't get enough. I buy it to make homemade salsa so I keep trying him out on it. Grapes are probably the worst. He is VERY picky about grapes. I have noticed, though, that several things he wouldn't touch as a baby, now are standard fare. I guess his tastes are maturing. Endive remains his very favorite lettuce by far. He'll usually eat that before anything, including most parsley.

Would anyone else like to share their guinea pig's favorite treats and what they won't touch unless desperate? I love to hear about diets as it gives me ideas. :)

Carla and Finicky Bud
