[Gpdd] RAINBOW BRIDGE: My Zippy went to the bridge today

It is with a heavy heart that I say my Zippy went to the bridge today. I don't know why. Last night he came up to the front of the cage and got a veggie and this morning I did not get to check on the pigs before I ran out to the vet so my dog Jack could get his daily blood draw. Then I came back and he was gone.

He was my Mr. Zippy, Zip-Zip, Zipper-doodle. I fussed over him all the time because he was so itchy much of the time until recently. He loved to swim around in the tub. He shared his cage with Mina and Lydia, his little "harem" (he was neutered). He was such a good cuddly boy, not very brave, but good all the same.

I got him from a rescue and he and my Jacob were the ones who got me started into rescue. I used to work with the rescue I got them from but then I started finding I did not agree with their practices or ethics. That was when I started my own rescue. I know they fudged the age on several pigs so now I wonder if they did that to my Zip, if they lied to me about how old he was.

I just wish I knew why, you know? I wish I was there when he left so I could have told him how much I loved him. I'm sure he knew but I still would have liked to tell him again before he was gone.

I know my Nigel has welcomed him at the bridge. He is going to be missed so much. All my pigs, rescue pigs included, have been very subdued today. Maybe they are paying tribute to a truly wonderful pig...

Zippy-Zip, I love you so much and will miss you and your pink little pig lips and kisses every single day. Nigel, take good care of my Zippy and I miss you just as much as the day you left me almost two years ago.

Be well everyone,
Lisa and the subdued, sad gang at Wheeks and Squeaks
