Hi Piggie Friends,

Snowball saw a special vet today for his teeth upon referral from his
regular vet. Our regular vet said she did not have the
experience/equipment to do the procedure properly to examine and trim
his molars, so she sent him to the avian and exotic specialist at Gulf
Coast. That was both kind and professional of her.

An exotics intern used the special tool to look behind his incisors and
she showed me. I didn't see much: he had just eaten some greens so his
back teeth and tongue were partially coated with green slime, and not
too pretty, bless his piggie heart. He put up a fight too and had to be
restrained in a piggie burrito (towel wrap).

The upshot is that because he is not accustomed to having his mouth
opened and teeth probed, they will have to use anaesthesia to relax him
enough to go back there and see more of what is going on and trim back
the sharp points he has developed on the left side upper and lower
molars. Ouch! You see, if you get your pigs relaxed about having their
mouths examined you may be able to avoid this additional expense and
risk. So I recommend getting your piggie used to probing.

He had to go to class with me first so we were out of the house for four
hours. It was my pigs longest time to be separated in over two years.
Snickers and Snowball were cute when they were reunited. Snickers stuck
his nose in Snowball's ear and then Snowball touched Snickers nose with
his. Aww! Well tomorrow (Tuesday) is Snowball's big day and I know all
his piggie friends will be pulling for him. He thanks you for your
piggie prayers. And so do Snickers and I. Will let you know how it goes!
