Hi,

     I'm not going to make any apologies for getting Bud at a pet store! He is the love of my pet life and I'm sure it was God's will that brought him into my life. I bought him from a small local pet store. The lady managing it told me they only buy their guinea pigs from one breeder because they are as concerned as we are about the conditions the piggies are raised in and the condition they are in when the pet store gets them. Even at two months old, Bud and his brother were separated from their two sisters.
     After buying Bud the lady answered many of my questions via email and was totally supportive. I wish all pet stores were like this. After I'd had Bud a couple days I asked the manager if she could find out from the breeder the answers to a few questions I had about Bud. I found out his Daddy was a shorthair and his Mommy an 
Aby. The breeder didn't know Bud's exact birthday but she knew it was the week of March 15th, 2004. That was close enough for me. Bud's official birthday in our house is March 15. That means that TODAY IS BUD'S FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!
     He seems very nonchalant about it but I have been excited. He's getting lots of pets and had a huge kabob with a little bit of all his favorite veggies for breakfast. In addition he got small pieces of Romaine, endive, green leaf and red leaf lettuce. He was excited about that part of his day but is napping now to rest up for all the excitement this afternoon. He's having a party but only he and I are attending. Games will include racing around the playpen, popcorning and hand fighting (his personal favorite). I didn't get him any gifts because I don't think I can think of a thing he doesn't already have but he won't know the difference. He has no other birthday to compare this one to.  :)
