Hi everyone. I noticed that todays posts were concerning mites on our poor piggies and treatments of such. My 2 boys had mites and the vet did the usual thing and suggested shots, which did little to nothing and it was suggested that second doses may be required. I did some internet searching and found a posting that a piggie mom posted where she used "NEEM OIL" on her pigs for mites and "voila", all cleared up. Hey, I was all for trying anything. I hunted down the elusive NEEM oil, which is a very stinky concoction that you rub into the pigs skin/hair and leave on for 2 to 3 days. After that you bathe them and you can repeat again in a few days if necessary. My piggies did not need a second treatment, which is good because the house smelled aweful (which you will appreciate when you smell the stuff!). My research since that point has shown that NEEM oil is used for excema, skin rashes, sensitive skin etc. Anyway - it worked well and my piggies have never been scratching or had other skin problems since then. I have noticed that some animal shampoos have NEEM oil in it as well. Very soothing for the skin!

Hope this works for your piggies.
