Ann-
Congratulations on Moe! Your new cage setup sounds great! You might try your
hand at litter training, some have been very successful. If he even goes in a
designated spot half the time it would help. We have used shredded paper some;
the OP's love it - we call it Fluff. It's not all that absorbent; I have read that some
slaves put a layer of Carefresh or Aspen or other absorbent bedding down under
the shredded paper. I use layers of newspapers, they're somewhat absorbent
and easy to roll up. The OP's just enjoy the fluff, running through it, tossing it
around, sitting on it and munching it! They never eat much of it, just like to chew
everything. But I always look at it before giving it to them to be sure they don't
get any staples or plastic or heavily colored ink paper.
Oh, and for your parsley washing story - Brittany once met with some opposition
to washing carrots and lettuce for Nala Bunny ("you don't need to wash food for
her - she's only a rabbit"), which of course did not deter her. But I have found
myself sometimes sneaking a bite or two of lettuce or carrot when preparing
Buffet. While I always carefully wash anything before the piggies get it, I often
just pop it into my own mouth without rinsing! (don't tell the OP's I'm eating
their food!)
Have fun with Moe!
