[Gpdd] BEHAVIOR - SOCIALIZING MY NEW PIGGIES

I have recently become the owner of two wonderful little girls - Sniffer and Piglet. They are both four months old and we have had them for two months. I have learned so much from these postings about cages, feeding, health, etc. that I thought this would be the perfect place to ask for some advice.

How long does it take for gp's to become used to being handled? Even after two months, as soon as I put my hand in their cage they run away. I have to corner them in the cage in order for me to take them out. Once I get them out and onto a towel on my lap they just want to bury themselves in the towel. I take them out at least once a day. I give them floor time in the kitchen, but they just huddle together against the play pen wall. Even when I take them out in the yard, they still just huddle together and don't jump and play like I read about other piggies doing. Are some piggies just more active than others, or are they still in the "getting settled" stage? They do run around somewhat in their cage, but don't seem to enjoy chewing on any toys I put in there (currently I have a wooden bird toy with a bell, some paper towel tubes, and some bark bites I got at the pet store).

Any advice you can share with me would be greatly appreciated!!

Pam, Piglet, and Sniffer
