Bethany,
I understand exactly how you feel,
unfortunately. My Brownie Bear has
also had bladder stone surgery and
she suffers from bladder sludge. I
have changed her diet about a zillion
times, but it doesn't seem to matter.
She still excretes excess calcium
crystals. :-(

I know you want the Best for your
Precious and it's upsetting to think
that your baby is in pain. But, I have
to agree with your Vets in that if she
is still eating and drinking normally,
then the pain is bearable. I know it
doesn't seem that way when you
hear that awful cry when she urinates.
But, I have been through this with my
Brownie Bear for almost 3 years now.
And honestly, I had wondered myself
if it was Cruel to keep her alive when
I knew that she was in pain a good
part of the time. And ya know, I didn't
think she would live past 3 years old,
Bethany. That is the honest Truth.

Well, Brownie Bear just turned 4 years
old, and she's still hangin' in there. I
try to syringe her extra water when I
can (which helps stone piggies
tremendously), and I give her Metacam
once a day, and Shilintong every so often,
and Mylicon (for gas) occassionally.
And I will not even consider helping her
across the Bridge, unless she completely
stopped eating and drinking. I know she's
in pain, but it doesn't seem to stop her
from being her Sassy, little self. I give
her lots of TLC, and hug all over her
every single day, so she knows that
she is loved. I don't know what else to
do, ya know.

So, I hope that your Precious is able to
pass the stones. Is she a good candidate
for surgery? I know, surgery is super scary,
and I hope I never have to put my Bear
through that again. I also hope that you
wouldn't have to put Precious through that
either. Please give her some Extra Piggie
Kisses from me and my crew and we'll
be sure to say a Special Prayer for her
tonight.
