Hello Slaves,
I'm so Upset. Today, I took the
piggies to the Vet and discovered
that my Brownie Bear has 4 bladder
stones. :-( I guess I knew that
this day would come since she had
the Calcium Carbonate-type stone
removed (almost 2 years ago) and
that type is usually recurring.

I saw the 4 stones on the x-ray:
2 are little; 1 is bigger; and 1
is in her bladder--so she should
pass that one. I don't know what
to do. She had stone surgery almost
2 years ago, and I swore I would
never put her through that again.
But, I can't let her suffer, ya
know.

She is eating and drinking normally,
and I'm pretty sure she is drinking
about 2 ounces of water on her own daily
(on most days). But, I still like to
syringe her extra water because that's
good for our stone piggies.

She also has a little infection 'down
there' (i.e. UTI), so I'm starting
her on Baytril tonight for 7 days.
Deep down, I knew 'something' wasn't
Right, but I hoped and prayed it was
just my imagination, since I'm such a
worry wort.

This morning, she had crusty eyes, and
she Never has crusty eyes, so the doc
checked her out throughly and didn't
see signs of a URI. I don't know what's
up with that. Maybe the strain of
urinating made her eyes tear up in the
night? So, I'm going to start giving
her 50 mg of Vit C starting tomorrow
if she has crusty eyes again, to be on
the safe side.

And for the next 2 wheeks, I am going
to give her 2 doses of Lasix (diurectic)
to try and flush those stones out. The
doc said that she should be able to pass
the 2 smaller stones (God willing), but
there was a question about the bigger one.
I mean, it's not huge, but just bigger.

I've been syringing BB extra water like
all day. And I'm going to syringe her
extra water in the morning and the
evening from here on out to try to flush
those stones out.

I'm taking BB back to the Vet in about
3-4 weeks, and if the stone(s) are still
there, then I'll consider surgery. I'm
worried though because she's 4 years old
now. So, she's not a spring chicken
anymore. But, she's active and fiesty
and loves to play little tricks on
Butterscotch. She does lay around a lot,
but she's always been that way, even as
a younger pig. So, I don't know. I just
want to do what's right for my pig.

Please keep my Brownie Bear in your
thoughts and prayers, if you would.

   Love 'n Wheeeeeeeeeeeeps...
