Rachel, 
I have one of those frisbee-shaped warmers and I absolutely love it! It stays warm for hours. I use it for my old boar Max, and also for when I bathe my piggies so they can keep warm. I wouldn't worry about the plastic; it is very hard and none of mine ever try to chew on it more than once.
