[Gpdd] Health: Brownie Bear & Butterscotch Update

Hello Slaves!
I'm sorry I haven't been as active
on the Digest as I should be. I've
been so busy these days and have
let myself get so behind on my
Digest readings...Sigh! But, I'll
catch up somehow. I always do. :-)
I know that there are Piggies that
aren't doing so well, and that we
have lost some to the Bridge and
my Heart goes out to each and every
one of you. I say a Prayer every
night before I go to bed for them,
just know that I am always thinking
of you guys.

I have been dreading emailing this
update because I was very Frustrated
last wheek after the Vet visit on
Thursday. :-( My Silly Butterscotch
was infected and is on Bactrim right
now for 10 days. One of his wound
areas got infected and Dr. G had to
drain the pus out of the area. It
started to not look 'right' so I'm
glad I got him to the Vet's when I
did. Well, the good news is that the
area has cleared up tremendously and
it is healing properly now, and he
is no longer chewing at it. Yee Haw!

Now, some not-so-good news: My
Sassy Brownie Bear had her usual
quarterly x-rays done and she had
2 bladder stones. Slaves, I don't
even know what to think about that.
I mean, ever since her procedure
last May where Dr. G went in through
her urethra and got the last stones
out (and then drained the sludgy
stuff from her bladder), I have been
reliously syringing her extra water
almost every single night. And in
the past that seemed to do the
trick for a long while. But, I have
to admit that there was a 3-day
period that I didn't syringe her
every evening and that was when
BS had those lumps removed and I
was caring for him quite a bit and
spoiling him and loving on him more
than usual. So, I thought for sure
that because of those 3 days, BB's
stones came back. But, Dr. G said
that that is not likely. And I know
that deep down. But, you guys know
how we love to blame ourselves for
forces beyond our control. It's
the 'Slave' in us, I suppose...

So, I have BB on a very aggressive
regimen of extra water, lasix,
shilintong, and Metacam (for pain).
You guys know the drillio (especially
stone piggie slaves, right???).

Well, so Daddy Slave is going to
take BB back to the Vet in a wheek
so we can see what the 2 stones are
doing, and then go from there. That's
all we can do right now. And I don't
know, BB just has been acting strange.
It's almost like she's going senile,
which I know is possible since she's
almost 4 years/9 months old. And God
knows that she has been through so
much, poor thing. She's still Sassy
though and she's eating and drinking
like a pig, so as long as she's doing
that, I'm not going to worry myself
to death. I just wonder how long her
little body is going to be able to
take this constant battle with stones
and sludge. I mean, I have dedicated
my Life to this Pig, and there is
nothing I wouldn't do for her. Whee
have this Special Bond, ya know.

And speaking of Special Bonds, my
Dear Butterscotch and I are closer
than ever. It's weird, but I think
that after a piggie goes through a
sickness or surgery and you nurse
them back to health, they are bonded
to you FOREVER. BS is the absolute
Sweetest pig that has ever owned me,
and I hope and pray to God that he
lasts as long as BB, if not longer.
He is the LOVE of my Life--

Okay, so I'm sorry I rambled on so.
Ooops. :-) Oh, but many of ya'll
have Congratulated me and asked me
about my new job and I truly Appreciate
that. I'm working at a German-owned
logistics company called Kuehne & Nagel
in their Imports department. It's a
Career change for me, and I'm really
excited about that. As much as I
enjoyed being a software person, I
started feeling like I need a change.
Change is good, they say. So, we'll
see...

Sorry if your eyes are about to fall
out of your head. :-)

   Love 'n Wheeeeeeeeeeeps,
      Leah...Slave to Brownie Bear
            & Butterscotch :-)
