  I've found that PVC is like piggies - one is great, two is even better!
  They will enjoy bigger ones that they won't get stuck in, of course.
  Not terribly long.  Mine enjoy having several around on the floor so
  they can run from one to another, following an imaginary trail around
  through one then another. Not too long, you don't want a piggie to
  sit where you can't reach him. Shorter is also easier to clean. The
  size we've liked best is from 8" to 12" diameter, and about one or
  two feet long .  Be sure the ends are smoothe.  I've found odd pieces
  at construction sites. They may be dirty, but you can get them free.
  The stores like Home Depot and Lowes have lengths of various
  PVC pipe and will cut them for you - you could always go in and
  buy a length, have it cut into 3 or 4 pieces, and you'd be set. They
  also have a drain pipe with holes all in it that I've always thought 
  would be interesting for them.
  To add to the fun, during Floor Time I'd hide bits of parsley around
  here and there, always leaving some for them to find inside the PVC
  tunnels.
