Dear Leah

If this is any use... My two have had mites and all blankets and cuddley
cups etc. need to be machine washed at 60 degrees centigrade to kill off the
microscopic mites and eggs. (This might mean some of it shrinks in the
wash, as I found out!)

Good luck sorting it all.

Subject: [Gpdd] Health: Brownie Bear has Lice

Hello Slaves,
I have been having one heck of a
wheeeek, I tell ya. On Tuesday night,
BB had sort of an 'episode' where
she fell over (on her right side)
and she couldn't move. I was so
Scared and I didn't know what was
wrong with her, so I got on the
computer to print off directions
to the Emerg. Exotics Vet (which
is about 25 min away), and I held
her and comforted her and pet her
for an hour. And I also gave her
37.5 mg of a Vit C tablet (3/4
of a tablet). And then, at some
point, she was fine. And she went
to the food area and ate and drink
like nothing ever happened (???).

I stayed up with her until about
4am and syringed her some extra
water (since I gave her such a
large dose of Vit C) and she never
had another episode again, until
I came home from work for lunch
(on Wednesday). During lunch, she
had a 'smaller' episode. This time
she sort of slowly fell over, but
then immediately snapped out of it
and was fine. So, I called Dr. G to
make an appt for today (Thurs).

After I got home from work yesterday,
she had one more smaller episode,
but then she was fine for the rest
of the evening.

So, I took her to Dr. G at 930am today
& they used this tape to get a sample
of her skin. And they found LICE...
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. I was Shocked to
say the least because BB isn't
scratching much. But, there is a
small area on her back where there
is hair loss, which just appeared
in the last wheek or so. Well, I thought
that maybe she wasn't getting enough
Vit C, so I increased her dosage on
Vit C this wheeek. I guess I just
don't understand why she's not
more itchy, ya know. ???

Well, nonetheless, even though
lice is a big pain, I am Relieved
that it is not something more
serious like a stroke or blockage
or a neurological problem. (Whew!)
Oh, and I brought Butterscotch
to the Vet's today for moral support.
Well, it's a good thing cuz he had
to be treated too. They both got an
oral dosage of Ivermectin and I'm
going to give them their 2nd dosage.
And then I'm going to take them
back to Dr. G for a possible 3rd
dosage. Also, I had x-rays done on
the Bear and those two bladder
stones are still there. They haven't
moved much in the last 3 wheeeks,
but I know that sometimes it just
takes time. Wheee have BBPH every
evening, so I'm syringing her a
ton of extra water.

Oh, and BS's wound area has healed
up nicely. Dr. G was very pleased
to see that.

Now, I have to go and start cleaning.
I'm going to be up late tonight.
I'm going to set them up in their
extra 3x2 c&c cage while I clean
all their stuff (cage, pigloos, dish,
cuddly cups, etc.).

Oh, the Life of a Slave...Wheeeeek!

P.S. Warm Healing Wheeeeks to those
Piggies and Slaves who need it. As
always, I am thinking of you all...

    Love 'n Wheeeeeeeeeeeks,
      Leah...Slave to Brownie Bear
              & Butterscotch :-)
