Dear Nicole

I am very sorry to read of what has been happening with your piggies. Are
you in the UK? Even if not, you may want to call the Cambridge Cavy Trust
to help answer some of your concerns.

I have read that rabbit food can contain anti-coccidiostats and that it is
strongly advised that, because of this, it should NOT be fed to guinea pigs.
As some of the other people who write in to GPDD have also said to you, this
errodes the pigs insides over a long period of time. It does take time to
have its full effect, but it is one that builds up and the effects are not
reversable.

Russell Rabbit foods (made by Supreme Petfoods Ltd) are all free from
anti-coccidiostats (they confirmed this to me in an email in October 2004),
but it is always advisable to email or write to a company and get them to
confirm this to you in writing (they can say anything they want over the
phone and not be beholden to it, but in writing it is official).

If you want to email me back, I can give you a couple of very good
rodentologists email addresses that you could then email, to help find out
what may be happening with your pigs.

Good luck

Carole

Subject: [Gpdd] Health: can anyone help Nichole?

Dear Readers, I am horrified by the terrible way Nichole's piggies are dying
off. Can anyone offer any ideas as to what might be happening?

I am sorry this post went twice. Our cat was helping as usual and sent it
before I was finished.
