  Nichole-
Thanks for the update - glad to hear the rest of your dear piggies
are ok now. Soon you'll be comforted by the pitter-patter of little
feet (which will soon become the stampede!).
Sounds like you have taken every precaution, and may never know
for sure what happened. At the very least, I'm sure this has served
to make us all a bit more cautious with our own little masters.
We'll look forward to your baby news!

Kathy-
There are a few feed stores around here that sell rabbit pellets
that way. They get them in bulk, then bag them up in plain brown
bags, and they are a lot cheaper. But I would be suspicious of
feeding such pellets to piggies, even if it says "Pig" on the bag.
Ask the store manager or someone who would for sure know about
it just what they are before feeding them. I'd suspect they're just
putting rabbit pellets in the bags, but maybe not.

  Kelly-
Sorry to hear about your dear Pancake's little toe problem. He
probably did injure it somehow, maybe got it caught in the wire
on the cage. I have to really watch when I pick one up to avoid
getting a foot caught, the way their back legs go out sideways.
I always try to get one hand under their back end to avoid this,
but it isn't always possible (as we all know!).
There's been a couple of times one of our boys decided they just
had to scale the wall, and got a foot caught in the process. Dash
appeared to have dislocated a back leg doing so, but confining
him to a small area and enforcing the bedrest order resulted in a
complete recovery. Good as new. Mac da Roanie, likewise, got
his foot caught once when going over the wall. On all of his previous
escapades he simply took flight (I actually recorded this once to
prove it!). But this time he got hung up, leaving him with a limp for
a couple of weeks. But confinement and rest did the trick, and he,
too, is good as new. No recent flights, either.
If Pancake doesn't seem to be in pain and the foot works ok, there's
not likely any need to do anything about it, just keep an eye on it.
And give him an extra treat (Snowy's advice).

  Life's little mysteries . . . ;-)
  Piggie hugs'n'kisses to all,
  Susi & the Okie Piggies
