What pain meds. is she on? If she is having Metacam, she might need
something stronger like vetergesic (might be called something different in the US,
it is a
morphine-like drug).

I think you might be talking about Butophanol, called Torbugesic® (Fort
Dodge) and Torbutrol® (Fort Dodge). In the short term (24-48 hrs. post op) it's
great for pain but not good for the long term because it can cause stomach
upset. Many vets here, especially for pigs, stick with the Metacam although I
agree it would have been good at the beginning. The other downside is that
Metacam can be given orally which is easy to do at home. Butophanol requires
shots every 6-8 hours. I'm very comfortable giving my rabbits shots but I
have trouble getting through thick guinea pig skin.

I'm sorry, I didn't read all the posts but one complication of spay is
granuloma, an inflammation of the tissue where the uterus was removed. We had our
foster pig Winnie spayed and she came thru the surgery ok but was sick for
three weeks with a painful granuloma. She spent several nights at the 24 hr.
vet to get syringe fed and pain injections. If the piggie is not bouncing
back after spay, you might consider this complication.

Dr. Kay - any chance you'll be at NAVC this year?

"It doesn't matter what the kids say. Rabbits are not disposable like a box
of cereal or a Disney video. They WILL get tired of the rabbits and go on to
the next toy. YOU will have to deal with the consequences. Unfortunately,
most people deal with the situation by DUMPING their rabbits on someone else.
Ultimately, it is the bunny that pays for your inability to say NO."
