Dear Debra and Cheekie
I don't know if it may help, but you might want to consider texting the
Cambridge Cavy Trust about Cheekie's eye as the fact that he is still
scratching it sounds as though there may still be some undetected underlying
problem. The number is 07721 026 401
I am a member and just the other day I received my newsletter in which we
were being told to always seek their advice before that of our vets, as vets
typically have such limited knowledge and training of guinea pigs. She's
there to help, so please consider this. Carole

Subject: [Gpdd] ANNOUNCEMENT - Two to join the large piggies club and
Cheekie's eye
Hello and Happy Holidays to all of our friends at GPDD from Debra and The
Story Piggies. The Story Piggies also wish to announce that two of their
brothers wish to join the "large piggies club". Snickers weighed in today
at a
whopping 3 lbs and 7 oz. He is one big guy. Snickers wants to assure
everyone
that he is not fat, just one large, muscular boar. Wheeeeek! Checkers
weighed in at 3 lbs even. He is the youngest of the Story Piggies, but he
is a
big boy! Both would like to join the club and send some wheeks of greeting
to
the other members. Calico is still short of 3 pounds, but he wants
everyone
to know that he is working on it. Maybe with all of the Christmas treats,
he will make it by next year.
All of us send healing thoughts and wheeeeks to the sick piggies on the
digest, and best wishes to their slaves as well. We hope everyone will be
feeling better very soon. Cheekie is still fighting an eye problem. He
has been t
o the vet two times already and has tried two different ointments. We have
another call in to the vet today, because his eye is still not healing up.
Cheekie seems to keep scratching it with his back nails. This is probably
keeping it irritated as well. His nails have been cut and filed, but they
can
still irritate a delicate eye when he scratches. Has any one had any
success
with trying to keep a piggy from scratching an injury? I can not imagine a
cavy keeping a sock on his foot or wearing a collar around the neck. Any
ideas
would be greatly appreciated.
