Dear Rachel

It all depends what you mean by a 'cough'. My gp Artie does a nosie that
sounds a little like a cough and a little like a hic-cup. It took me a
while to realise that he actually makes the noise if he has eaten too much
grass or greens. I limit this now and he is fine. I don't know if what
I've said helps or not, but Artie is such a greedy little chap and has no
mechanisim in his body or brain that tells him when he's full up! So when
he's eating, he's getting the next bit of food in his mouth ready, whilst
eyeing up the bit after that! I used to wonder if he comfort eats, but now
I think he is just one of those pigs that loves his food. If Solomon loves
his greens and grass a lot, this could be what the noise is.

If it is, then please be careful as gp's can get bloat from too much greens
and it can be fatal.

Hope Solomon is okay. Carole

Today i heard Solomon cough...i think?...i know it wasnt a sneeze....his
cage mate Samson has been sick off and on (sneezing and losing and gaining
weight) and was put on meds but it really didnt seem to make a difference
(he is eating fine and the vet said it wasnt anything to do with his
lungs).....what does it mean when a piggie coughs? this is the first ive
heard this noise.....he is a young pig just born in september and he's very
spunky haha and likes to strut his stuff in front of the girls....i did move
the girls cage on the floor (across the room) instead of on a table which
was on top of the boys cage....maybe he was getting a little to excited? he
kept sniffing the air, strutting for samson, and going in his hay rack
trying to climb out of the cage haha....

  any advice would be appreciated!

  thanks,
  Rachel
