[Gpdd] Health: Clarification about Bene-Bac

I want to clarify something about the Bene-Bac. Our friend Tex notes that
Bene-Bac is sold in different sizes. I buy a package of 4 tubes of one gram
each. He buys a 15 gram tube. Tex commented that the usual dosage is about 1
gram a day per kilogram of weight. Use it a day or two on, and then the next
day or two don't use it. You don't need to give your pig 15 grams at once!!!

He also reminds us that a fresh dropping or two from another healthy pig,
mashed up with some Critical Care, also restores the good gut flora the
piglets need in order to thrive. In fact, this may be the best long-term
solution, according to what he says.

Here is a quote from Tex

"Also, I have found that gut flora "replacements" such as Bene-Bac and
acidophillus work well as long as you use them, but they are not a permanent
substitute for the real thing. Do you have another piggie? One of the best
things to do is mash up a fresh dropping or two from a healthy piggie in
some Critical Care, and give it to the sick piggie. Yes, it sounds
disgusting - but it does help (we were doing this before Bene-Bac). I had a
piggie that was on long-term antibiotics. As a result, her droppings became
soft and mushy, and stayed that way even after the antibiotics stopped. A
capsule of acidophillus (1/2 AM, 1/2 PM) firmed her up, but she would get
mushy as soon as teh acidophillus stopped. We put her in to live with
another piggie. She pretty much followed that piggie around with her nose up
the other one's rump for a number of days. Soon her droppings firmed up, and
were fine for the rest of her life."

Hope this clears up any confusion about what I said before.
