Hi all!

I just wanted to send out a very quick note! First off, thank you to
our secret santa (from Kayla and Ella)!!! I am so sorry I have not sent
this out sooner, but we had some stuff going on at home (by stuff I mean
Ella was having her liquid poos on and off for a few weeks) We have
finally figured out that we need to SEVERLY limit her veggies (has
anyone else heard of this?) So I am supplementing Vitamin C and she
seems to be doing fine. Anyway, the girls LOVED their gifts . . . they
have turned their fleece cup upside down so that it is like a little
house and they sleep under it :-)

On to the real purpose of this message: We were at petsmart on Saturday
. . . and right at the door there was a female albino guinea pig up for
adoption from the local SPCA. I usually wouldn't adopt from them, cause
I worry about the care they have received (i.e. a lot of these animals
are in late stage mite infections etc) But low and behold . . . she
looked very healthy. She was VERY shy and spent most of her time under
her hidey box, but her eyes and nose looked clear, no noticeable
wheezing and no scratching and she had a full head of hair. She is
around 1 years old. It turns out that she was dropped off there because
the family that had her said the dog was chasing her . . . so they got
rid of the gp. Anyway, we took her home and put her in a separate cage,
close to Ella and Kayla's cage so they could get to know each other (but
we could moniter "whitey . . .that is the name she came with!") Well,
she started talking immediately and she was totally calm in my lap . .
.unlike the other wild munchkins. She even popcorned in the
evening!!!!! So I think she will make a good addition. There are just
two questions I have: 1. I am soo afraid that they mis-sexed her I did
a check and didn't see a penis, but she does have a large protrusion
above the "y" not a penis, just a sphere, is she still female? 2. Any
advice on introductions would be much appreciated. We tried a little
intro last night. . . and there was A LOT of noise, no blood shed. . .
but Whitey did chase Ella (who is the subordinate one) around and Ella
was trying to kick whitey with her hind legs. Now, big Kayla didn't
want anything to do with either of them and she just sort of napped
until Whitey came over and started chasing Kayla too. Is this normal?
How long do you think it will take for them to be able to sleep in the
same cage together and have playtime together?

Ahhhh the trials and tribulations of guinea pig motherhood :-)

Thanks to everyone in advance to for their help!-
Michelle
