Dear fellow GPDDers,

Never have I known a person so devoted to his pets as Peter Gurney. Not only
did he delight in the unique personalities of each of his own many piggies,
but he championed the causes of piggies everywhere, all throughout the world.

I had the great good fortune of knowing Peter personally and getting to visit
the piggies in his flat. He took it upon himself to distribute copies of my
daughter Alyssa's movie, CARROT WARS, to children who were patients at the
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London. And he paid weekly
visits to children there, bringing his piggies along in a wooden wheeled
contraption that he hauled onto the Tube (subway). While he waited for the lift
(elevator) at the hospital, he would hum or sing a little tune. I will never forget
accompanying him on his rounds, the way the children's faces would light up when
he entered the room. It was a sad day for Peter and for the children when
government regulations stopped him from making his visits to the hospital.

Peter can never be replaced; his personality, with all its loveable
eccentricities, will never be duplicated. The best way to honor him is to carry on his
work with our small furry companions, who give us so much amusement. They
cannot speak on their own behalf; we have to continue to be their voices.

Peter, if you are crossing the Rainbow Bridge at the moment, I hope all your
lovely deceased piggies (and mine) are running up to meet you. I know that you
will never be lonely.

With Grateful Appreciation,

Nancy

(Alyssa's mother)
