I was saddened to hear of Peter's passing and offer my condolences to his
family. I first became familiar with Guinea Pigs about 9 years ago when got
our beloved "Christie". At that time I subscribed to the GPDD hoping to learn
more about these wonderful little animals. It was through the GPPD that I
kept hearing the name Peter Gurney being brought up and even would see his
writings in the digest from time to time.

Peter was in my opinion and others, one of the most if not the most
knowledgeable expert on Cavies. His books provide a wealth of knowledge and I'm sure
helped hundreds if not thousands in learning more about their little
creatures and how to properly care for them.

I was fortunate enough to have seen and met Peter at the D.C. Guinea Pig
Extravaganza in Arlington Virginia back about 2000. He thrilled everyone with
his absolute knowledge of and kindness towards these wonderful creatures. He
will surely be missed and I just know that Peter had thousands of joyful
squeaks and wheaks from his old friends welcoming him from their spots across the
Rainbow Bridge.
