I thought that was a very nice idea that Jaime suggested, lighting a candle
all together at the same time for Peter Gurney. I was also thinking about a
way to do a memorial for him, so here's another idea. I wondered if Leah and
Judi would be able to donate a copy of their new book, Brownie Bear and
Butterscotch's Adventure, to the Greater Ormond Street Hospital for Children
on behalf of the GPDD. It could have an inscription honoring Mr. Gurney and
signed by Leah and Judi from all of us on the gpdd. I just ordered my copy
yesterday and am so looking forward to reading it.
Like so many others, I felt such a loss to learn that Peter Gurney had died.
I went to his website and looked again at the photo of him accepting the
award for his work with the children at that hospital. He was smiling and
holding that adorable piggie in his arms. It is an excellent photo for what
it conveys. I just felt crushed at the loss of such a man who was capable of
regarding these creatures with such dignity and kindness and his
contributions to their well-being. I would really like to be a part of
whatever we can come up to honor him.
