Dear Joan
I have had my guinea pigs for over 3 years now and they NEVER have drunk
water. They flatly refuse -- even though it's there for them. They eat a
LOT of cucumber though -- pretty much one a day (plus other veg such as
celery, which also has a fair content of juice).
They have been seen by Vedra at Cambridge Cavy Trust and given a clean bill
of health, so I just make sure they've always lots of cucumber and they
munch away on that. They also have at this time of year some honeydew
melon.
If your Lady Bug has lots of cucumber available, then that will certainly
keep her fluid levels up, and may explain why she's not bothering with the
water. Don't forget, she may be sipping at it when you're not looking.
Hope this may help.
Carole
