Hi piggy people,
I have been away from the digest for quite a while. I have not been too
well, but I am back now. My scottish piggy clan has lost a few members and also
gained a few. We sadly lost Neo and Elvis, but we gained Morris and Percy, two
brothers rescued from an awful home where they had them in with 4 bunnies who
were bullies. They had bites and brusies (which I have never seen on gps
before) and hair loss and mites. Poor babies. they are really happy in their new
home. They have discovered the wonders of timothy hay, carrots and parsley.
they have thier own pigloo to sleep in and have a nice large cage to feel
sewcure in. They are still skitty and nervous, but getting better.
So the point of my reply, any domestic animal that comes into the UK has to
go through 6 months quarentene, which costs (lots). During this time they have
to be kept in a special area where they can be watched and made sure they
primerally do not carry rabies. You would be able to visit, but it would not
be the same as having them with you, and they would be very stressed at being
in such surroundings. I know of someone who by the time they had got the GP
over, and then put them through the 6 month period, they had to return, and
the gp did not surrive the return trip. I know it is rench, but maybe it is
kinder to have someone you trust look after you piglet and maybe email photos on
a regular basis, and let you talk to them on the phone so they remember your
voice. And six months is not that long. I always say that piggy happiness has
to come before mine!
best wishes to all on the digest
hope to hear from all you lovely piggy people soon
Lissy Loo and the Scottish piggy clan
