Hi there piggies and their people!
Well, I've had Jellybean, my rescue pig, for 3 weeks now, and
although she is still very timid, she has calmed down considerably.
We have cuddles every evening, with her snuggled in a towel so she
feels safer. She is enjoying a vast array of fresh vegetables as well
as pellets and hay, and is gaining weight! She doesn't like eating in
front of me, but when I leave her alone, her food disappears! She
must be in heaven eating all these fresh foods she never had before :)

Unfortunately, before she came to live with me, she didn't have the
"luxury" of fresh foods or a nice soft bed of hay to snuggle in, so
although she doesn't seem to be 'in love' with me yet, she must be a
much happier piggy, and that is enough for me at this stage. I have
always had snuggly pigs in the past - Suki was so affectionate - but
it is enough for now that Bean's life is much improved...

Which leads me to my question - since piggies are social animals, and
since Bean may never learn to love socialising with me, should I get
her a piggie friend? Would her life be enriched by the company of
another piggie? She did grow up with about 35 other pigs in
disgusting conditions, but this would be completely different. It
wouldn't happen until I could track down a rescue piggie in need of a
home, so it could take a while. I have made a promise to myself to
never buy another pet shop animal while there are animals in need of
loving homes out there.

Any opinions or advice on whether a shy piglet might benefit from a
piggie friend would be much appreciated!
