Hi Diana!
I know you just had to come out of
pocket a bit to keep Miss Lucy (and
Shelby tooooo!), but if you could
scrounge up some money for a Vet
visit, that would probably be the
best thing you could do for Miss Lucy.
Crusty eyes could be a sign of a
Respiratory Infection, and you don't
want to take any chances with that.

But, I will say this--my Brownie Bear
always had clear, bright eyes until
she turned 4 last November. And
since then, every so often, she'll have
crusty eyes. I always wash my hands
before handling the pigs, so I will
either use my finger or a damp
paper towel to remove the 'gunk'.
Well, Dr. Campbell (in Virginia)
checked out her breathing and
everything was fine. And then, when
I started taking the pigs to Dr. Griffin
(in North Carolina), he did a very
thorough 1st exam on both pigs (like
45 minutes for each pig). And he said
that for a 4 1/2 year old pig, Brownie
Bear's lungs sounded Excellent!
and that it was probably because I
kept the pigs on towels.

So, crusty eyes is not always a sign
of respiratory problems, but you'll
sleep better at night knowing that
Miss Lucy is Okay. Piggie Kisses
to her and her Turtle Brother, Shelby!!

         Love 'n Wheeeeeeeeps,
               BB, BS, & me :-)
