I recommend Peter Gurney's health pages advice on treating lice: Neem Oil.  I found it in the costmetics section of my health food store.  Neem Oil is completely non-toxic (it is used in both cosmetics and to season food), but it will kill lice and other pests.  Nothing short of a miracle!  I use it in my garden on aphids and white fly.  But I only discovered it after I treated my two piggies for lice.  I tried the shampoos, but the neem oil did the trick more effectively and more safely.  Your piggy will smell a little funky is all.  Small price to pay!
