Re Mike and Lyndsay's question about hair care, I want to chime in! My
beautiful Snickers was a sheltie, or silkie pig. His coat was just
magnificent and I so envy you guys your beautiful new piggie. I don't know
what to do about static electricity, because in Houston where I live it
doesn't get so dry.

I bought a little doll comb for Snickers hair and combed him nearly every
day. It is good to start on the ends and comb up gradually to slowly remove
the tangles without pulling. That helped keep it from getting matted.

But near his hind end, underneath, it still got matted sometimes so I would
snip out the mat. I would also trim his long "teardrop" sometimes so he
could walk without tripping on his coat.

The vet sold an expensive shampoo for dogs to use on the piggies. It is
called HyLyt. PetSmart sells a lot of gentle shampoos for pets. If gpigs
can use dog shampoo, they can probably also use coat conditioners or
slicking spray made for grooming dogs too.

Looking forward to hearing more about your sheltie!
