Good evening, everyone! I have an interesting little story to share with you about the topic of animals grieving. When a particularly interesting topic comes up on the GPDD, I mention it to the girls at work (though none of them are piggy-girls, they still have interesting things to say). Well, I mentioned this one to Robin who shared with me this story:
She said that her father had a sweet dog named Toko (or something like that) and they were very close. Toko would sleep beside him in bed, sit with him on the couch to watch TV, and go everywhere with him even if it meant sitting in the car alone for most of the trip. Well, sadly, Robin's dad became very ill and the entire time Toko was at his side (when he went to the hospital, Toko would sit at the door and wait quietly for him to come home). After months of illness, Robin's father died and she insists that though Toko never saw him die, that dog knew when it happened. He howeled his heart out the entire night and when Robin found him the next morning, he was dead laying by the door as he had that entire week.
I am so sorry if this is making any of you sad. It's just that it really touched me to hear that these little creatures whom we love so much do in fact love us back. How lucky we are as pet owners to have the rare and blessed experience of unconditional, unbridled, unselfish love. I feel so incredibly blessed to know that, and I hope all of you do too.
Sorry for all of the deep and somewhat saddening emails lately, guys, it's just that this subject really strikes me. I promise there will be more funny stories soon (remind me to tell you the pee pee puddle story). Thank you for all of the compliments! :)
                    Love, Amber
