Hi there everyone. i just discovered this list from my cavymadness
newsletter and i'm glad i did. I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sydney and
I'm from Evansville, IN. My job as an adoption counselor at our local humane
society has brought the wonderful world of guinea pigs in to my life and i
could not be more grateful.

my first piggie i brought home his name was Charlie. I didn't have him very
long but he worked the cavy magic on me and just before he died, Elvis was
surrendered to the shelter. Elvis (who's actually a girl) is a black with white
streak Peruvian that was surrendered because she wasn't wanted anymore.
I've had her for more than a year and a half now. Next came Presley, a
tri-color American. She was brought into the shelter the day after thanksgiving
living in urine soaked pine shavings with a male guinea pig. I swear it could have
very well been over a month since they had fresh bedding put in their cage.
Presley came home with me that night and has been happily squealing every
since. Bentley came along a year ago. I got him out of a mom and pop pet store
in Indianapolis. He's a Texel and is the most unusual of my pigs but also has
the most personality. Priscilla joined the herd in August, she was one of
the last animals adopted out of a closing animal shelter. Cooper, an Abyssian
Mix, joined the group only recently. He's a is a joy to have.

In fact all my piggies are a joy to have. They are wonderful and I'm so
thankful that I have had the opportunity to adopt them and bring them in to my
home. I do keep the boys and girls separate. The girls are all roommates as are
the boys. It's amazing how different their personalities are. My experience
with these amazing creatures has inspired many people who visit our shelter to
bring a guinea pig home. When you rescue, you never know what kind of life
they had before the found their way to a shelter but watching them blossom
from the weak, malnourished, unhappy pigs to what they are now is a wonderful
feeling.

My piggies get to go to work with me and they have their own couch that they
sleep on while i'm working. they are a hit with all the kids and are social
butterflies (except for Elvis, she's very much a momma's girl).

Again, I just wanted to introduce myself and my piggies to you. I'm really
excited about new ideas that i can try out on my piggies. If any of you have
great ideas for toys, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks so much,
Sydney
