[Gpdd] Misc. Cubes and Corroplast Cages

Hi Colleen,
Well we made ours a few months ago and it was pretty easy, but we did have a
problem scoring the coroplast (we accidently cut through it in one small
place, but it was easy to fix with some tape), and we also made our tray
bigger then the cage, but only by about a centermeter, so when we put on the
cage, we had to loosen up some of the cable ties to make it fit properly. So
my biggest bit of advise is to really check and double check your
measurements :0).

With our cubes, we got these joint peices to hold it together, but my
husband and I thought that they looked terrible, so we ended up throwing
them out, and just cable tying it, (we did this a couple of days ago), it
fits together better, and its tighter, and it looks about a million times
better, if you were to cable tie it instead of putting in the joints, you
could measure the corroplast better. Our problem stemed from the fact that
while we allowed for the joint peices in our calculations, it still threw it
off a bit, as it is hard to measure precisely, with them there.

As we are adding an extra level we are going to need some support beams to
make the roof of our cage stronger, at the moment as we have William
seperated, the cage is divided and the extra peices of wall running across
the middle are supporting the roof and the lid (we used the bathroom
shelving, like on the c&c website in the enclosed cages section). We are
plaing to use some hollow conduit piping for the beams, as it is plastic,
and it can be cut to size. We are putting it in four places where the roof
peices join, and are going to cut little grooves in the tops so the piping
holds it better, and is more stable.

We also used our leftover grids (I hated the look of the red ones with the
other colours) as a floor time play pen, after we add our second story we
will have a whole heap more grids left over to make our play pen that much
bigger. :0)

We love our C&C cage, I can't wait to see how it looks with a second story!
:0)
We do find it really easy to clean, and the giuneas love having the extra
room to do laps. Ours is a 2 by 5 grid cage, and with the second level it
will be a perfect guinea home. Congradualtions! Its such an exciting time!
For you and the Guineas!
