Lisa,
Welcome to your lovely new piggy, Camdyn Rose. Thank you for sharing all
your wonderful pigtures!!

I have been lucky enough to have rescued several pregnant sows at various
times and have had the joy of seeing many baby piggies running around. They
are so energetic and noisy and seem like a completely different species.

I recently took in a pair of babies and housed them with one of my older
sows, Pansy, who had lost her lifelong companion, Pearl. Pansy started
bouncing around with the babies and seemed years younger. It really cheered
her up.

To Terry,

Congratulations on you new little family! You can pick them up right away.
The more you handle them, the tamer they will become. Mum won't mind at all.

You must separate the boys from the girls as soon as they are weaned.- about
3 weeks. The boys are quite capable of mating with their mother at this age!

In my Cavies Castle calendar, which has pigtures and stories of their
various patients, is the following story - With a pigture of Smudge it says
"Warning!!! This delightful little chap is the result of a just under four
week old baby boar showing too much interest in his mother. She had 7 babies
in her original litter, but then had Smudge and 5 siblings on her second
unplanned second pregnancy. So be warned!!!"

You could end up with a lot of piggies!! If you are unsure about sexing them
yourself, get expert advice. It is easy to make a mistake when you are not
used to doing it. You don't want to be overrun with piggies ( and it is bad
for mum too!)

Good luck with your babes.

It is great to read some good news after so much sadness.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.

Hi gpdders!

We're so exicted! We adopted a new piggie last weekend. She is the
youngest baby we've ever adopted at 5 weeks. We named her Camdyn Rose. You
can see her, (as well as our other 6 piggies) at:
http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/guineagirl_2006/ There is one photo
of her on the top row and 4 on the 3rd row. She is a beautiful, little,
mostly chocolate abby with red & white, and VERY vocal, even when she's just
trotting around. Even though she got a clean bill of health from our vet,
apart from a couple of brief photos she is isolated to her own pen for the
next couple of weeks before living with the rest of the herd. We can't wait
for them to all be together! Yippie! It's lovely have a little baby, it
seems like all of our other pigs are acting younger again!?

Our hearts go out to all of you who have lost your beloved little pigs. ) -
: I can't even imagine how bad you must feel. So sorry.

Lisa Stanley (and mostly converted slave husband, Matt)
& their herd: Brody, Keely, Shayla, Genevyeve, Bronwyn, Delaney & Camdyn
