[Gpdd] [HEALTH] Piggie with allergies

Hello! I am Shauna and I have been a lurker on the digest for quite some
time now. The reason I am posting today is because I am wondering if anyone
else out there has piggies with allergies. Quentin my 2 1/2 year old piggie
has finally been put on benedryl by my vet to see it that can control his
sneezing and runny nose. He has had bouts with this for the last year and a
half. We have had him on Baytril a few times thinking he was getting a URI,
but he always continues to sneeze and have a runny nose. Other than that he
is a perfectly happy and healthy pig. He weight about 3.2 pound, has tons of
energy and LOVES food of any type!

I would love to hear from anyone else who has had the same issue. Of course
because Quentin has been on some sort of medication off and on for so long
he really hates to see the medicine bottle or syringes coming anywhere near
his cage. He ususally runs and chatters his teeth very loudly at me as soon
as he sees me approaching with the benedryl! He is quite a fiesty little guy
and really does not like the taste of Benedryl. Even his girl friend, Zuessy
in the next cage over grinds her teeth at me when it's medicine time! Any
tips on making this situation go a little more smooth would be great! Thanks
