Everyone beat me with suggestions about Phoebe's feet. I was going to
recommend Vaseline. If it is Bumblefoot, there is not a lot that you can do
about it. If the scabs come off, the foot can bleed profusely and there is
the possibility of an infection getting in. Hopefully it is just urine scald
from her sitting in one place all the time in which case the Vaseline will
help. I liked the idea of using Bubblewrap - hadn't heard that one before.
Some piggies do get finicky about their food as they age. One of my old
ladies won't eat grass anymore though she loves her veggies and an old
gentleman will only eat carrot in the afternoon! Some elderly ones do lose
weight just because they sleep more and have less eating time. They also
lose muscle tone because they don't run around anymore.
If there is no obvious illness you could try Metatone( can you buy it
wherever you are?).It is a liquid tonic for people but suits guineas very
well and often gets a piggy eating again. The dose is 0.5 ml daily for one
week followed by 0.3 ml for another week.
It is good that she ate the lettuce and grass. Hopefully she is just being
picky and will perk up on her own. Good luck.
