[Gpdd] Health - skin irritation

Dear Charlene

My g.p's had mites and I took them to Cambridge Cavy Trust. Vedra stuck a
small piece of sellotape on part of their skin and then put this under a
microscope. The mites they have are not detectable with the human eye so
your vet needs a microscope. (There is a special blue light you can run
over their fur, but this doesn't always detect the mites.)

I have a bottle of Vet Sect and the website on there is: www.millpladge.com
I believe they are in the UK, but they should be able to tell you where they
offer it for sale in the US.

First I would like to say thank you to everyone who sent condolences my way
for the passing of Poppy. And I am happy to hear that many of your piggies
are feeling better after being ill.

Another of my piggies is itching more often than normal. I have taken her
to the vet but they can't find anything moving on her and have not found a
reason for the itching. I read that somone used Vet-Sect Shampoo for their
piggies and was wondering if that might be a good thing to try. Also, is
there somewhere in the US that I can get this? My vet has never heard of it
and suggested a few other things in it's place, but I thought I would try
what other guinea pig owners use first.

  Thank you!
  Charlene
