I got a postal scale at Office Depot or similar store.  I use a small
box on top of the platform.  The scale calibrates for the box and then I
put the guinea pig in.  It can provide weight in pounds/ounces or grams
and runs about $30 as I recall.  My vet uses grams in determining
medications so I try to be consistent in my weighing.
