[Gpdd] Health Bladder problems

Can anyone tell me if X Rays always pick up stones or
maybe tumours on the bladder or if they are hard to
see.

I had a lovely guinea pig Annabel who suddenly started
to squeak when she passed urine. I took her to a vet
who organised an x ray a few days later but they said
they could not see any stones. I gave her baytril and
metacalm but she kept squeaking. I kept taking her
back to the vet but they could not tell me what was
wrong with her.

I did not know what to do as she was eating well and
apart from the obvious discomfort when she passed
urine she was her usual self. {There was no blood in
her urine}

A friend suggested I take her to a homeopathic vet [
He was a qualified vet with a special interest in
homeopathy] We had a 100 mile round trip to see him
and he contacted the original vet and prescribed some
medicine, He was very nice and really tried to help
her but unfortunately she got no better. She lived as
before with the other guinea pigs for about 6 months
until one day she became incontinent and I knew that
her time had come. My local vet said that he could
feel some lumps that suggested a tumour and I said
goodbye to her, lovely Annabel.

I always wondered why nothing showed up in the X ray
and whether I should have done more or had her put to
sleep earlier. I am amazed through the guinea pig
digest how common bladder problems are {especially
stones}. I think if I was in the same situation again
I would insist on another X ray.

Best wishes
Anne, Bella, Kiaroo and Maisie
