Someone said we needed some happier tales - something
to lighten the mood a bit. If I'm lucky, I will remember half
of what these characters do - maybe I should set up some
piggie cams . . .
For one thing - Tulsa has hosted the national finals of the
Miniature Horse Assoc this past week, and I've really enjoyed
walking around, watching the little horses, visiting with their
slaves, and, of course, the conversation always gets around
to piggies! Their costume class last weekend was amazing-
a circus, a picnic, a wagon train, and a plane wreck! (it just
started out to be an airplane, but it's 1-hp power unit had
enough and leaped out mid-class) But tonight took the
cake. They have a class they call Liberty. Really fun to
watch, if you've never been to one of these shows. But we
know it by it's real name - Floortime! No kidding - they
turn these little guys loose in the arena and let them
run around like crazy, popcorning all over, and they
get points for it!!! I'm thinking of having this at a piggie
show . . .they even have their own music. One used
YMCA, and even the audience was dancing!
Sometimes I snag the occasional empty box from work,
it may look like trash to others, but I can see the piggie
hut or playhouse, and the pigs love them. Conan is so
silly - he's claimed one and likes to sit looking out, just
under the edge. If his back itches, though, he reaches
around and chews on the edge of the box, looking at
me like I'm nuts for laughing at him.
You've seen the post-it notes commercial, where the
farmer finds his cows all stacked up? I guess the pigs
have seen it, I've seen them copy other things they've
watched, like rodeo and Nascar. Tonight there were
3 pigs (all girls) stacked up at the water bottle. (that
didn't last long!)
Mr. Dash loves to have company, some of the other
boys will occasionally hop in with him, and all is just
fine until dinner time. Dash will sit on the dish, moving
only to get a bite. Or he'll flip it upside down, with the
dish on top of the feed. (sort of like Snowy sitting at
the water bottle, taking the occasonal sip then
swishing the water in her mouth for a while)
But the boys have come up with a new game. It's
called Land Mine (or maybe Floor Mine!). Bentley,
that wild and crazy boy from Peru, hides under a
paper bag, waiting for somepig to come along. Of
course, Potsy is onto him, as he follows him around
watching him, just to see what he's going to do next.
(he always has this look on his face like he just
can't believe it!). But Roanie Stripe or Spanky or
R.J. will come along to see what's going on, run
onto the bag, and BOOM! the explosion sends
all the pigs scrambling for cover!
The girls aren't so inventive, just silly. But I'm still
watching the new little girl from Texas, the cocoa-
colored Peruvian. She's still young, so her hair is
just sticking out 2-3", like a little duster. So I just
called her our little Dust Bunny, but we finally
learned her real name is Lolly Pig.
All this needs is some illustrations and we can
publish it! Of course, we'll have to take pigtures
when they get their costumes on next month-
CP already has his green John Deere farmer's
cap, trying to find overalls his size will be a trick.
While we're doing this roll call, we could have a
virtual costume contest,or at least 'costume
parade'.
Gotta run and see what they'll do next.
Piggie hugs'n'kisses,
