Sylvan has suddenly become ill, not even sure the exact problem,
let alone the cause. I've written to Tex, but with this being a holiday
weekend, he may not be at his computer right now. So I'll also post
here, hoping someone else might have some suggestions.
Symptoms- lethargic, only nibbles his pellets. Seems to have gastro
intestinal distress - not hard stomach, but seems to cramp some.
Impaction not a factor (already checked). No diarrhea - clean and dry.
He seems to appreciate his tummy rubbed, but moves at times with
discomfort (not related to the massage). The most striking thing, tho,
is how he looks. He looks like he feels really bad, that look they get
in their face, in their eyes, when they're really ill.
What is odd, to me, is that his chin is wet. This is not from his nose,
it is dry. In fact, the towel he's on gets a wet spot and he has to move
or be moved. At times he acts like he's trying to cough or clear his
throat. Does this sound like poisoning? I can't imagine what could be
a cause, he is in a well contained cage with 3 other pigs, all seem fine.
They have not had any grass or anything from outside, minimal veggies,
  only good pellets and hay.
I thought I had some simethicone but don't find any, so am off to get
  some.
If anyone has had any experience with something like this, or heard of
such, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
You can contact me directly at ok.cavylodge at yahoo.com.
  Thanks,
Susi & the concerned Okie Piggies
