Sandi- No, don't remove the sow from her friend. Even the boars are fine with the babies (altho you don't want to expose the new mother to getting re-bred). But the sows help each other out, and it is best not to make any changes in the expectant sow's environment - don't move her or her roomates, etc, and keep handling to an absolute minimum. They stress easily when pregnant, and can go into pregnancy toxemia, shock, and lose the babies, and possibly die themselves. On the other hand, if everything is calm and her food is good, she should deliver and care for the babies just fine. Good luck with them!

Rachel - I gave up on the pine bedding at home - too messy. I only use it in the carriers at the shows, as it looks nice. We spread layers of newspapers (try to have just the black/white on top), then the pigs spread their hay over that. Sometimes one of them will get a 'blankie' (washcloth) if they want it for comfort or warmth (try placing it, folded, over the side of the pen and see what they do with it!).

Ginger - Love that song! I, too, make up songs spur of the moment for the OP's - they love it (well, usually). I would love to have seen a video of those guys on safari!

All - Sounds like we should each do what we can to publicize the problems with the skinny pigs, to try to discourage the mindless breeding of these poor little guys. As with our furry dears, communication and education is key.
...and we're glad to hear that Seussy and His Royal Highness Prince Biscuit of Nani are both doing better - yea!
