Just some thoughts on some simple treatments that have
worked for us here. For various skin and hair problems,
and just in general, we use Head & Shoulders shampoo
(or the generic equivalent). There is an ingredient in it
that is good for the scalp, and has always helped to
calm irritated skin and itching. For a natural approach
to getting rid of pests, try neem oil, from a health food
store (we have to order it). For foot irritations and any
fungal type infections, it has helped to rub some vaseline
over it - I think it basically coats it so it kills it out.
In fact, I've actually soaked piggie feet in warm epsom
salts water with great success, followed by rubbing on
the vaseline. Talk about spoiled piggies!
One little tip I've recently discovered - on occasion, when
allergies arise, I give 1/4 tablet (generic Chlortrimeton)
dissolved in water, with just a bit of vit C added. I've found
it dissolves much quicker in warm water. They enjoy it so
much they swish it around in their little mouths a few
minutes, looks like they're chewing it! And will not take
another bit until they're through savoring the first!
