Hi GPDDers,

I noticed in the last few posts quite a few people having or who have had
problems with paralysis related to calcium deficiency. I have never heard of
such a thing, and of course, being the nervous piggie slave I am, was
wondering what causes it, so I can prevent it from happenining in the first place.

After Aquinnah fell ill, and before she died, I switched my babies to an
all-timothy diet--pellets and all. I know timothy is not as rich in calcium as
alfalfa, but it has the fiber and roughage adult pigs need to keep their guts
working properly. Did I do the right thing?

Also, I was wondering something else. Since I switched the pigs--now Ryvvir
& Chuqui--over to straight timothy, and eliminated the alfalfa-based
pellets, they have been drinking about half as much as they used to. Is this
typical?

Thanks, Slaves.

Nicholle, Ryvvir & Chuqui
