How very sad we were to read of the departure of your beloved Tinsel to The
Rainbow Bridge. It does sound as though there was a genetic component to the
heart problems, as indeed there often is in humans. You did well to get them
all to the age of 4, and Tinsel was not far short of 5 really, which is a
tribute to the love and care they will have received from you over the years.
We know how it feels to lose piggies in quick succession, as we have had
periods like that, and indeed expect more as the age of most of the Dolly
Mixtures, all from just one rescue, creeps towards 5. At least Tinsel was able to
slip away peacefully in her own time, cuddled in your arms and surrounded by
love. You did all you could for her, and we all know she would probably not
have lasted as long as she did had you not taken her in that Christmas in 2002.
Come to think of it, as our big rescue happened on 8th January 2003, probably
many of the Dolly Mixtures are of similar age to Tinsel - and some of them
are already there at The Bridge with her.
Words are never adequate in these situations, but may it bring you all some
small grain of comfort to know we are thinking of you at this difficult time,
and sending a hug across the Channel to show you we care.
Debbie and the 14 Dolly Mixtures
