Hi everyone my name is Brenda. Right now I am pigless, but I had to finally
tell you about my babies. My son got me hooked on Guinea Pigs when he was in
High School. When his piggie Gibralter passed on, I felt very lonely and we
ended up adopting 2 brothers. Harry Caray and Mortimor. They were about 1
yr. old when we got them, the person who had them moved. Well, they were the
loves of my life, I have always had cats, and I still do, but those 2 were
SO MUCH FUN!!!!! One evening I noticed the dreaded red pee from Mortimor,
sure enough he had a bladder stone. He was on meds and the Vet thought it might
shrink enough from him to not have surgery. That was not the case, Mortimor
passed away the evening before the surgery. I was holding him and it was SO
peaceful. Now, there was only Harry Caray! He never wheeked but, I guess
he didn't have to because he was VERY spoiled. Only the best of everything,
he had better salads than my husband and the kids had. It's only right. Nov
23 2005 Harry just wasn't his usualy boss self, I took him to our Vet, she
did x-rays and found out that he had congestive heart failure. I knew what had
to be done, it was very peaceful and he knew that I loved him and I told him
to be nice to his brother, and sleep in the sunshine, one of his FAVORITE
activities, when not eating. I had him cremated. I know everyone has
different reasons for these things, but to me I needed to have him close by, so I can
talk to him or just hold his little box. It REALLY helps at times. I ad my
20 yr. old cat cremated when she passed 3 months later. She is in the middle
of the living room, on the stereo stand so she can keep her eyes on her
family. Harry is by my bed, so I can see him every morning when I wake up. I
know I should have done this with my other 2, but as they say 20/20
hindsight, they are buried in our back yard. I wanted to let everyone know about my
story. I look forward to the GPDD everyday to see what is going on. I cry on
the passings and I laugh at the antics that you all write about. Please know
that my heart goes out to ALL of you and your piggies. You guys and gals give
me something to look forward to everyday. I don't have a piggie right now,
I'm not through mourning, but one day I will be able to be adopted by a new
piggie. Thanks for reading this. Also, one thing my cat and piggies got along
just fine, I always supervised the visits, but they were great together.
Take care, Brenda
