I've been a member of the gpdd community for quite a few years now, and a
lot of us digesters have gone through quite a bit together ~ a lot of joy,
fun, support, and unfortunately, a lot of loss.
As the years have gone by, and I have had my own losses, I have found it
increasingly difficult to hear of the loss of our furry friends. For those
of us that are "pig people", guinea pigs aren't covered simply by the term
"pet". They are a part of who we are ~more like our smiles, our dreams, and
our big toes than like a "pet". The loss of such a kindred spirit is
monumental.
Brownie Bear was more than Leah's Brownie Bear ~ she was a part of all of
us. Through Leah's vivid images, we all knew and loved her like our own.
We laughed over her antics, we worried when she was sick, we fretted over
her weight and water intake...but mostly we laughed.
It seems to me the sun is shining a little less brightly today, and the
birds sound a bit less chipper. A light, whose rays filled the souls of so
many, has gone dark.
But we are all the better for having the joy of knowing her. And while we
are sad, and will be for a time, we also are so blessed to carry some of
Brownie Bear's light within us.
So after you have a cry over the sorrow of losing Our Miss Brownie Bear, and
after we cry for Leah, Blaine, and Butterscotch, please do one thing as a
tribute to her. Please remember the joy and humor Brownie Bear brought into
the world, and laugh.
I think she'd like that.
